ABOUT ME AND HOW I GOT HERE.
Throughout my teen years, I "hobbied and self-studied" photography; mostly motion picture. I had always wanted to go to Los Angeles and work in the movie industry. The year was 1983, at age 26, and at the urging of a cousin of mine, I decided to attend college and moved from Duncannon, Pa., to Austin, Texas. I began all the college courses aimed at cinematography but, life took a sudden turn and I had to turn with it. I soon discovered that life is an ever-changing wave and we have to roll with those waves. I veered toward television and soon found myself under the wing of an internship at KVUE in Austin, Channel 24. Under the guidance of people like Bob Buckalew, Margie Reedy, photographers Hymie Zamora and Paul Rios, then later at my first real television job at KBTX Channel 3, Bryan, Texas where people like Jeff Braun, Jeff McShan and Ron Crozier accepted me in good faith, I flourished and use the attributes these people passed on to me to this day.
In 1990, I decided to give up on television entirely and venture forth into my own business. A very risky gamble for sure, but one which has paid itself in dividends far too many to count. I have since married; to a very traditional gaI and have settled into a town I love, New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania. We live in a beautiful, Victorian stone house (pictured above) that was built in 1840 and at that time was owned by the Perry Mutual Fire Insurance Company who rented to bottom floors to the very first bank in Perry County, THE PERRY COUNTY BANK. The year was 1866 and the bank remained there til mid-1868.
Currently, I keep myself busy with many photographic, community and church activities. Over the past few years, I have also taken on another roll in life; playing the part of media watchdog. Because of hype, lies and distortions by a complicit, left-wing media that has aspirations of socializing our country, and being a former journalist myself, I feel it a duty to my country to make sure people know the truth; the absolute, bottom-line truth about the many issues our nation faces today. Henceforth, I began an editorial page titled FAITH AND POLITICS which you may read at your convenience. You also have the opportunity to reply, or debate if you so desire because it is debate that moves our country forward and truth is often revealed by it.
Descretely and quietly is how Steve obtains his photo-journalism footage. Beginning in television and now an entrepreneur, he has respect for people's integrity and seeks for the "truth" in whatever story. Steve accepts travel assignments. All work is captured via digital format; all files can be sent via electronic transfer if necessary.
